I don’t know why sony would allow the release of a game this bad. The whole reason I play video games is for entertainment purposes, you know have some fun and release some stress. This game is not fun and only causes stress I can’t believe a game this bad was released on psp. You can never make a shot and no matter what team you play against it seem like they make every 3 they take. the only entetaining feature is a side mini game where you can play dodgeball. This game also supports infrastructure for online gameplay I thought maybe that would work out a little bit better, I was wrong it freezes up so much I almost took my psp and played dodgeball with a brickwall. So if you are looking for a decent basketball game for the psp stay away from NBA 06. Its a waist of money a waist of time the game developers should be ashamed with themselves.

The Bad: Well, there is plenty of it. Fist, if you have ever played basketball you know you should be able to drive the lane sometimes. You should also be able to blow by your defender sometimes, you should be able to do a hook shot in the low post, you should be able to block shots fairly often, you should be able to steal the ball from time to time, you should be able to dribble behind the back or between the legs. All of these wonderful parts of the game of basketball you can either never do, or rarely do. Oh, and one more big one. You should be able to make some shots. Alas this is still one of the most inexcusable aspects of this game. Though this is supposed to be an improvement over last year’s version, it is still terrible. 3 pointers fall almost never, and you can forget any of your star centers or power forwards making a jumper. Though I am sure the lovers of this game would say this is all more realistic. My question is, is it better to be more realistic to a fault or more fun? This game should be more enjoyable and easier.

Bottom Line: Is it fun? No. Skip this one. Will I keep it? For ten minutes. The mini-games are fun for at least ten minutes. Is it for kids? Nope.

NBA 06 is overall a fun game. The controls are hard to get used to, but once you get the hang of it the game is great.

    Graphics: 10/10

Absolutely amazing. Better than NBA Live 06 and very realistic. The players’ faces are done pretty well and the detail is excellent with no blur in the movement.

    Gameplay: 7/10

The game is very challenging at first, so start on the Rookie level, but for more experienced players, Veteran or All Star would be better. There are many different game modes, including Dodgeball, 1 on 1, and 3 on 3 to name a few.

    Controls: 7/10

As I said before, the controls are difficult to get used to. Unlike many other NBA games there is no seperate button for dunks/layups and jump shots. Making a shot is difficult at first, due to a virtually unheard-of shooting system. Once you get the hang of it, the controls will not be a problem.

    Overall:8/10

Although it may seem frustrating at first, NBA 06 will get easier as you go along. With graphics to beat, and a wide variety of game modes, this game will make a great addition to your collection, whether youare a big fan of basketball or not.

My wife bought this game for me for Christmas. I was leary about it, since I usually like EA games and had read the negative reviews for this game. To put it bluntly, this game is great! Since I started playing this game, I can’t put it down! It has 3 difficulty levels (Rookie, Veteran and All Star) to keep it fun as you get better, so you won’t get bored too quickly. The game is very smooth and looks great! Of course it could be better. More advanced play calling (4 basic plays) and more advanced defense would be nice (only has man-on-man, 2-3 zone and 3-2 zone) but as far as gameplay goes, it’s easy to learn and fun! The best part is you can play games quickly and is a great way to kill time.

Don’t let the nay-sayers influence you! This game is well worth the money and showcases the abilitites of the PSP!
